Why ENABLE Occupational Therapy

Before understanding OT, one needs to understand "occupation" - which is simply put, any activity that occupies your time. For human beings, it is important to be able to participate in our various occupations in the ways in which we want to, so that we can experience meaning in our daily living.

Occupational Therapy is designed to facilitate engagement in any occupation where a person has physical, mental, social or emotional limitations/barriers.

The word "enable" is important to us as Occupational Therapists, as our role is to enable an individual or a community to engage in their desired occupations by providing therapy, fabricating or procuring assistive devices, or adapting a person's environment to enable them to function in their daily living.

Meet The Team

Rena Burger

Rena graduated from the University of the Western Cape in 2020, with BSc Occupational Therapy - Summa Cum Laude.

Throughout her exposure to various needs in her surrounding communities, Rena's passion grew for enabling people when they are faced with physical or psychological limitations that affects their engagement in work, daily home tasks, functioning in social settings, and  being mobile within their communities.

What motivates her to continue enabling people is the opportunity to have a peak into someone else's life, to experience the journey with them from a level of brokenness, to achieving restoration - to the highest degree possible. This process of restoration is what drives her to continue serving in the capacity of an Occupational Therapist.

Rena's interests lie in the areas of hand rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation, psychiatric intervention and Occupational Therapy assessments. She is also a certified WorkWell trained therapist and uses this in her functional assessments to guide her reasoning.
